Isoleucine and Valine Metabolism in Escherichia coZi

چکیده
On the basis of isotopic results obtained with Torulopsis utilis and Neurospora crassa, Strassman et al. (1) and Adelberg (2) have proposed a mechanism for valine biosynthesis in which pyruvate is converted to a-acetolactate. Acetolactate would then undergo a rearrangement to yield the carbon skeleton of valine. Abelson (3) showed that pyruvate, in competition with glucose, gave rise to the carbons of valine in Escherichia coli. This paper will show that extracts of E. coli do indeed have an acetolactate-forming enzyme, and evidence will be presented that this enzyme plays an essential role in valine biosynthesis. Preliminary reports of part of this work have been presented elsewhere (4, 5).

EVALUATION OF METABOLIC PROFILE OF PLASMA AMINO ACIDS IN DIABETIC PATIENTS WITH CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES
Background: Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common endocrine diseases. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of death in patients with type 2 diabetes. The aim of this study was to investigate the metabolic profile of plasma amino acids in diabetic patients with cardiovascular disease. Methods: The present study is a descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study on 140 ...

متن کاملIsoleucine and valine metabolism of Escherichia coli. XIV. Effect of thiaisoleucine.
Thiaisoleucine (2-amino-3-methylthiobutyrate) completely inhibited the growth of strain K-12 of Escherichia coli at a concentration of 5 x 10(-3)m. The inhibition was antagonized by growth-factor amounts of l-isoleucine. Thiaisoleucine inhibited the deamination of threonine and the transfer of (14)C-isoleucine to soluble ribonucleic acid and underwent transamination with alpha-ketoglutarate as ...
متن کاملIsoleucine and valine metabolism of Escherichia coli. XVI. Pattern of multivalent repression in strain K-12.
The levels of the five enzymes required for isoleucine and valine synthesis were examined under several growth conditions in strain K-12 of Escherichia coli and mutants derived from it. In strains with wild type repressibility, the same pattern of derepression was found on limiting isoleucine as is found to be constitutive in strain Tir-8, which has an altered isoleucine-activating enzyme. Homo...
